Job Summary:

The Medical Device Technician II is responsible for software testing of medical devices such as BP monitors, TENS units, and nebulizers that have reported problems by customers. The Technician will work entirely on the UW-Parkside campus in the OMRON Inspection Lab located in Greenquist Hall. 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Analyzing test results and entering findings in computer.

  • Performing routine preventative maintenance on assigned instruments and equipment according to established schedule and procedure.

  • Facilitating device intake and final resolution (shipping back to customer or e-scrapping) following specified procedures.

Who is OMRON?

OMRON is a global leader in the development of in-home healthcare monitors for cardiovascular health, respiratory care, and pain management.  OMRON has partnered with UW-Parkside to provide opportunities for students to learn about the challenges in the development and adaption of these monitors by serving as product testers.

Required Qualifications:

Technology: Ability to use software to control and generate reports from scientific instrumentation. 

Critical Thinking: Ability to follow test protocols and document results with quantitative accuracy. 

Communication: Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and communicate technical information clearly.

Preferred Qualifications:

Ideal candidates will have successfully completed CHEM 206 or have equivalent experience and PHYS 105 or PHYS 201 or equivalent experience.
