Job Summary

The Registrar is responsible for collecting patient demographic and insurance information for outpatient services. This role ensures a smooth and efficient registration process while collecting co-pays and deductibles at the point of service. The Registrar plays a key role in creating a positive first impression of the hospital for patients and visitors.

Key Responsibilities

• Collect and accurately enter patient demographic, billing, and clinical information in a timely manner 
• Distribute and explain forms, documents, and educational materials to patients or family members 
• Meet with patients or caregivers to gather required information and explain registration processes 
• Address patient questions and concerns with professionalism and clarity 
• Communicate with physician offices, nursing staff, and other personnel to coordinate admissions and patient placement 
• Verify insurance benefits and obtain required precertification/authorization 
• Collect co-pays, deductibles, and other required payments or refer patients to financial counselors when appropriate 
• Ensure a positive, efficient, and patient-focused registration experience 

Minimum Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED (Preferred); Associate’s Degree (Preferred) 
• License: N/A 
• Certifications: Handle with Care certification required within 30 days of orientation and maintained annually

• Reports to: Director of Patient Access 
• FLSA Status: Non-exempt 
• Shift: OP Day Shift Registrar,  Hours are Mon - Fri 9:30-6pm with occasional weekends.
