Position Description:

The Hospitality Assistant plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of the Tasting Room. This position provides essential support to the Tasting Room team by welcoming guests, supporting reservations, assisting with service, and maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the space. The ideal candidate is warm, friendly, detail-oriented, and thrives in a fast-paced, team-driven environment.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Warmly greet guests at the front entrance, provide an overview of our wine service, and assist with seating.
  • Assist guests with reservations over the phone or in person, ensuring accurate booking and confirmation.
  • Provide information about Clif Family wines, tastings, and events.
  • Assist in seating guests and notifying the appropriate host for tastings.
  • Help maintain the cleanliness and organization of the host station, tasting mats, menus, and overall tasting area.
  • Clear and reset tables, ensuring prompt cleaning of surfaces and floors between tastings.
  • Monitor restrooms during service, ensuring cleanliness and restocking supplies as needed.
  • Assist guests with transporting purchases to their vehicles.
  • Work with the Assistant Manager on property-related needs, including maintaining patio and outdoor tasting areas.
  • Oversee maintenance and scheduling for tasting room equipment and outdoor spaces.
  • Support general upkeep of tasting room furniture, gardens, tents, and tables.
  • Process sales transactions using the POS system and provide support to teammates as needed.
  • Assist with opening and closing procedures in line with established systems and protocols.
  • Support the team during service by preparing culinary pairings, assisting with wine tastings, and polishing glassware.
  • Open and pour wine following Responsible Beverage Service Guidelines.
  • Serve food in accordance with Food Safety Principles.
  • Other Duties as Assigned: Flexibility is key—be ready to jump in wherever needed to support the team!

Skills Required:

  • Previous experience in restaurant or winery setting preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage priorities and workflow.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Good judgment to make timely and sound decisions.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Effectively communicate with people at all levels and from various backgrounds.
  • Experience in a fast-paced, high volume, hospitality environment.
  • Warm, welcoming and gracious demeanor, calm under stress and good at thinking on their feet.
  • Ability to work a schedule that includes weekends, and holidays as necessary.
  • Knowledge of the Napa and Sonoma Valley and local attractions.
  • Wine education a plus.
  • Knowledge of CRM software, Word, Excel, Outlook, and winery POS systems (use of TOCK is a plus).
  • Comfortable standing for extended periods.
  • Availability to work weekends, holidays, and special events.
  • Must be able to work both inside and outside in varied weather conditions.
  • Ability to lift 40-50 lbs. required.
  • Minimum 18 years of age.
