Job Description

The Role

The Enrollment Specialist is responsible for managing the health plan enrollment process for provider groups and individual practitioners—from initial application to successful participation in payer networks. This role requires someone who is detail-oriented, organized, persistent, and able to communicate clearly across internal teams, clients, and payer representatives.

You'll help ensure that our clients can accept insurance by getting their providers enrolled with commercial and government payers (Medicare, Medicaid, etc.). Whether you're experienced in payer enrollment or new to healthcare and eager to learn, this role gives you a front-row seat to how health plans, provider groups, and reimbursement systems actually work.

We are looking for someone to join our team in a full-time or part-time / fractional capacity. Location is flexible, with many individuals remote but hubs in Charlottesville, VA, Washington D.C., and Philadelphia, PA.

What You’ll Do

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage payer enrollment applications across multiple providers, specialties, and geographies.
  • Research payer-specific processes, requirements, and forms (e.g., CAQH, PECOS, Medicaid portals).
  • Track and follow up on in-progress applications to ensure completion—via phone, email, and payer portals.
  • Identify and resolve issues that cause enrollment delays, documenting outcomes and escalating as needed.
  • Request and organize documentation from clients, such as licenses, W-9s, NPIs, and malpractice coverage.
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date records in Tribunus' enrollment tracking systems and ensure all submitted information is accurate.
  • Provide clients with updates, status reports, and estimated timelines for enrollment completion.
  • Build relationships with payer reps, internal teams, and clients to streamline communication and reduce processing times.

Qualifications

You’re a Great Fit If You Have:

  • A knack for managing details without losing sight of the big picture.
  • Strong communication skills—especially when asking questions, following up, or explaining complex processes.
  • The persistence and patience to chase down answers from payers and clients without letting things fall through the cracks.
  • The ability to manage multiple processes at once, each at a different stage and with different rules.
  • A solutions mindset—when something doesn’t go as planned, you get curious and dig in.
  • Comfort and speed with using online systems, portals, and Excel or Google Sheets to manage workflows.
  • A proactive approach to learning—you seek to understand how things work, not just check boxes.

Bonus if you have/are experienced in:

  • Healthcare operations, revenue cycle, or medical practice administration
  • Working with health plans (payer credentialing, contracting, enrollment)
  • CAQH, PECOS, Medicare/Medicaid enrollment systems

Compensation & Benefits

We are committed to transparency and equity in our hiring process and offer competitive benefits.

  • Base: Independent contractors in this role can expect to make $30-40/hour. Full-time staff members can expect a salary in the range of $45,000 - $60,000 (commensurate with experience).
  • Performance Bonus: Eligible for additional annual performance bonus based on organizational scaling metrics.
  • Flexibility: We are open to part-time and hourly arrangements.
  • Benefits: For full-time individuals, additional benefits include a comprehensive medical benefits package and employer contribution to a 401k plan.
