Fifth Ward Community Redevelopment Corporation (FWCRC) is a nonprofit community development organization dedicated to revitalizing Houston’s historic Fifth Ward through affordable housing, economic development, community engagement, and educational initiatives. FWCRC works to strengthen families and neighborhoods by providing housing counseling, financial literacy education, homeowner preservation programs, and community-based resources that promote long-term stability and generational wealth.

Our Homeowner Promotion & Preservation Department organizes weekly housing education classes, financial literacy workshops, community outreach events, and housing counseling services that empower individuals and families throughout the Houston community.

Position Summary

FWCRC is seeking a motivated, organized, and community-oriented Housing & Outreach Specialist to support the daily operations of the Homeowner Promotion & Preservation Department. This position is ideal for a social yet analytical professional who is interested in developing technical leadership skills while making a meaningful impact in the community.

The Housing & Outreach Specialist will be responsible for intake data management, client data collection, administrative support, and community outreach coordination. This role requires strong interpersonal communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

The ideal candidate is passionate about community development, enjoys interacting with people, and has a strong interest in housing, real estate, business development, and community engagement.

Key Responsibilities

Administrative & Data Management

  • Manage client intake processes and maintain accurate client records and databases
  • Collect, organize, and track program data for reporting and compliance purposes
  • Assist with departmental administrative duties, scheduling, and document preparation
  • Maintain confidentiality and accuracy of sensitive client information
  • Support reporting requirements for housing programs and grants

Community Outreach & Engagement

  • Represent FWCRC at community outreach events, housing fairs, workshops, and tabling events
  • Assist in coordinating housing education classes, financial literacy workshops, and community programs
  • Engage with residents, community partners, and stakeholders in a professional and welcoming manner
  • Help promote departmental programs and services through outreach efforts and community networking

Program Coordination

  • Assist with planning and executing housing-related events and initiatives
  • Provide general support to housing counseling and homeowner preservation activities
  • Coordinate communication with clients regarding appointments, workshops, and program participation
  • Support special projects and departmental initiatives as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree required
