Job Description

Position Type: Full-Time

The Dispatcher plays a critical role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and continuous operation of underground mining activities. This position is responsible for real-time monitoring of personnel, environmental conditions, and critical systems, while maintaining clear and reliable communication between underground operations and surface support. The Dispatcher serves as a central coordination point, supporting emergency preparedness, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/ACCOUNTABILITIES: 

•    Monitors underground air quality and ventilation levels.

•    Maintains real-time awareness of the location of all underground personnel.

•    Maintains continuous radio communication with underground crews.

•    Monitors critical systems electronically to ensure proper operation and promptly reports issues.

•    Maintains a thorough understanding of the mine layout and emergency evacuation procedures.

•    Cleans, calibrates, and maintains records for gas monitoring equipment.

•    Cleans, inspects, and repairs cap lamps; maintains associated records.

•    Demonstrates proficiency in required computer systems and programs.

•    Provides back-office and administrative support, including but not limited to the following:

•    Answering phones and managing incoming communications

•    Uploading and maintaining daily personnel rosters

•    Maintain and distribute daily production reports

•    Maintain and distribute incident reports and related information

•    Scanning, copying, and maintaining documentation

•    Taking and organizing notes as needed for cross-shift

REQUIRED TRAINING, EDUCATION & WORK EXPERIENCE:

•    High School diploma or GED required

•    Annual refresher training

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

Physical & Mental Requirements:

•    Walking, standing, and sitting at desk.

•    Lifting, bending and stooping.  

•    Ability to lift and/or carry up to 40 lbs. 

•    Ability to push and/or pull 5-25 lbs.

•    Ability to carry on conversations (speaking and hearing) for extended periods of time.

•    Ability to use keyboard frequently.

•    Ability to work well alone

•    Ability to work with a high level of detail.

•    Ability to meet frequent deadlines.

•    Fast-paced environment – must be able to handle high-stress situations and adapt to change.

•    Due to the nature of working around other employees and other schedules, patience and perseverance are excellent attributes in this position.

•    Must be able to prioritize and organize time well.

4 days on - 4 days off
12-hour shifts (7am-7pm or 7pm-7am)
