Position Purpose

The Volunteer Coordinator Intern serves as a support role to the Humanitarian Aid Volunteer Program of World Help. These functions are fulfilled through the conduction of duties within the volunteer program, community engagement planning, fulfillment management, and project management. Together, these responsibilities allow the Volunteer Coordinator Intern to ensure that World Help’s Humanitarian Aid Volunteer Program is running efficiently and without delay.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Recruit new volunteers and/or volunteer groups through community engagement, networking opportunities, and recruitment events.
  • Research local gifts-in-kind procurement opportunities; plan product drives and other events to engage the local community.
  • Facilitate volunteer groups at the warehouse ensuring their time is maximized and their experience is positive, ensuring that they are well-trained, comfortable, and encouraged to return. 
  • Ensure that World Help is ready for every volunteer session by setting up packing stations and preparing supplies, prior to its start. 
  • Occupy inventory database, including accurate shipment entries and ledgers of product as directed by World Help guidelines and/or the Warehouse and Logistics Coordinator.
  • Assist in fulfillment activities including picking, packaging, staging, and loading outbound shipments. These activities can include operating a pallet jack and other physical work as needed.

Your Time

40% - Volunteer Facilitation

  • Coordinate and facilitate events/shift activities, utilizing volunteers to collect product information and perform quality/quantity controls.

40% - Community Engagement Planning & Research

  • Researching/planning opportunities to engage the local community through volunteer events, product drives, and special events.

10% - Fulfillment Management

  • Assisting the Warehouse & Logistics Coordinator with inventory tasks such as the processing of donations and staging/fulfillment activities.

10% - Project Management

  • Assisting the Warehouse & Logistics Coordinator in planning for container shipments and special projects, to include analyzing stock inventory, container staging, and project administration.

Required Skills/Education

  • Enrolled in a collegiate program working toward a degree in Business, Non-Profit Management, or a related field.

Preferred Skills/Education

  • Efficient use of time management.
  • Experience leading a group of volunteers or team.
  • Experience operating a pallet jack.

Miscellaneous

  • Requires sitting at desk & working on the warehouse floor.

  • Minimum internship of 150 hours up to a maximum internship of 200 hours total.

  • Some local travel may be required for volunteer fairs and events.

  • Some weekend and weeknight hours required.
