Job Description:

Job purpose

Performs all aspects of Radiation Therapy, to include simulation, treatments, high dose rate applications and quality control procedures.  Maintains accurate treatment chart documentation, billing, and patient scheduling.  Demonstrates understanding of computer plans, contours, and dose calculations.  Assesses patient side effects and refer to physician if needed.  Maintains inventory in assigned work areas.

Essential Job Functions                         

  • Delivers a prescribed course of radiation therapy as directed by a Radiation Oncologist.
  • Maintains documentation of patient treatment records, films and schedules.
  • Performs simulations using departmental procedures and direction from physicians and physicist while maintaining accurate documentation of set-up parameters.
  • Maintains patient scheduling in each technical area.
  • Maintains billing for simulation, treatment, port films and treatment aides.
  • Participates in quality control procedures within the department.
  • Maintains inventory of supplies needed in each technical area assigned.
  • Daily monitors, evaluates and refers each patient for side effects, nutritional status, physical disease progression, emotional and psycho-social status.
  • Independently uses treatment computer software.

Qualifications

Education/Experience

  • Must be a graduate of a JRCERT approved program for Radiation Therapy and be ARRT registered. 
  • Must have BCLS certification.

Working conditions:

This position works in the radiation department of a busy oncology/hematology/radiation clinic. This person has direct contact with patients, some of whom are very ill.

Physical requirements:

This position requires that the employee be able to stand and walk for long periods of time, up to eight hours a day. This position also requires that the employee be able to lift and/or turn disabled patients.

A URAC accredited Specialty Pharmacy, Park provides insurance and benefits investigation, prior authorization services for insurance coverage, co-pay assistance through manufacturer or foundation programs, extensive medication education, and access to a pharmacist 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
