Pecan Valley Centers provides hands-on learning experiences for students in the fields of mental health, substance use, and social work... This student will be working primarily with substance abuse and veteran support. We must have an affiliation agreement with your school or university for you to be considered for placement with us. Internship candidates must complete the application process, interview, and upon recommendation for placement, complete a full background check.
Interns are expected to be flexible in their assigned responsibilities and assist the agency in other roles as needed or allowed. Interns must guard client confidentiality by being knowledgeable of and adhering to HIPAA regulations. Interns are expected to help maintain and promote our trauma-informed, person and family-centered environment.
Under the professional guidance and supervision of a Qualified Credentialed Counselor (QCC), Interns will perform indirect/administrative and direct/clinical substance use disorder services with children and adults, including but not limited to:
Screenings and assessments
Individual counseling, group counseling, crisis counseling, or substance abuse counseling (program dependent)
Documenting all contacts and services provided
Engage in clinic meetings
Participate in weekly individual and/or group supervision sessions
QualificationsRequirements:
Must be 18 or older
Have a valid driver’s license and social security card
Proof of current enrollment in a LCDC program with an accredited institution of higher education.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
Must be able to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, squat, lift 25 pounds, sit for an extended period, reach overhead and walk over uneven terrain.
