The Commissary Clerk is responsible for assisting in the operation of the facility commissary (a retail store which provides sundry items to inmates/residents) including, but not limited to inventory, sales and ordering stock.

  • Verifying in-coming shipments against receiving documents: note and report any discrepancies or damages.
  • Endure verbal and mental abuse when confronted with the hostile views and opinions of inmates/residents and others encountered in an antagonistic environment.
  • Assist in the effective management of facility/department resources.
  • Provide the proper repair and/or exchange of items sold.  Maintain an up-to-date inventory of all goods on a daily, weekly and/or monthly basis to monitor minimum and maximum levels. 
  • Read and comprehend correspondence, policies, regulations, procedures, reports, directions for forms completion and other simple or moderately complex directions.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma, GED certification or equivalent.
  • Experience in retail preferred.
  • A valid driver's license is preferred, unless required by contract or applicable statute.
  • Minimum Age Requirement: Must be at least 18 years of age.
