Job Description
Quality Control Technician
Location: Onsite Newton, NC
Reports To: Quality Control Supervisor
Employment Status: Full Time
Third Shift 10:00 pm to 6:00 am
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday; ability to work overtime and weekends as needed.
Pay: $20.50/hour plus a $1.00/hour shift differential, this position is eligible for a pay increase once qualified then after three years of experience.
Position Overview
Quality products are essential to Gusmer’s reputation as the Go to Provider, the Quality Control Technician is responsible for accurate testing, thorough documentation, and consistent adherence to procedures. This role requires accountability for results, integrity, and clear communication to support safe and efficient manufacturing. With a strong focus on collaboration, this position offers the chance to make a direct impact on product quality while working in an environment that values transparency and respect.
Key Responsibilities
• Performs quality control testing and inspections on raw materials, in‑process materials, and finished products to ensure specification compliance.
• Conducts first‑piece inspections and routine in‑process audits throughout the shift.
• Collects, prepares, and analyzes production samples following established procedures and testing frequencies.
• Accurately document test results, inspections, and certifications within the Quality Management System.
• Communicates quality results, concerns, and trends to Manufacturing to support production decisions.
• Calibrates, cleans, and maintains laboratory equipment while ensuring lab cleanliness and audit readiness.
• Participates in Outside of Specification OOS investigations, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and follow all safety and PPE requirements.
Qualifications
• Highschool Diploma/GED required.
• Associate degree preferred.
• Some laboratory experience such as pipetting, measuring, and caliper preferred.
Work Environment
• Primarily laboratory-based with regular interaction in a manufacturing environment.
• Exposure to noise, dust, temperature variations, and moving machinery.
• Requires standing and walking for extended periods, manual dexterity for laboratory work, and lifting up to 20 pounds.
• Required to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and comply with all OSHA and facility safety standards.
