Job Description

The Lutheran Home is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Business Office Intern for a paid internship within our healthcare community. This role is designed for a highly organized student interested in healthcare administration, accounting, or business management. The intern will gain hands-on experience in billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and front-line customer service, supporting smooth business office operations while maintaining strict confidentiality. This is a part-time internship of up to 24 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support daily business office operations
  • Perform data entry and assist with administrative projects
  • File, scan, and organize documents
  • Answer and route phone calls professionally
  • Assist with billing, accounts receivable/payable functions
  • Learn and utilize electronic medical record (EMR) systems
  • Complete additional duties and special projects as assigned

Qualifications
  • Junior or senior pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel required
  • Ability to quickly learn new systems
  • Strong organization, communication, and time management skills
  • Professionalism and ability to maintain confidentiality

Work Environment & Physical Requirements
  • Office-based role within a healthcare community. Must be able to move throughout the healthcare community as needed throughout the workday, which may include walking between departments and buildings.
