In this role, you’ll help create positive experiences for volunteers who provide companionship, administrative support, bereavement services, and comfort to patients and families during some of life’s most important moments.

What You’ll Do

Support an Impactful Volunteer Program

  • Provide administrative and operational support for the volunteer program across home care and hospice services 
  • Assist the Volunteer Coordinator with volunteer scheduling, assignments, and program coordination 
  • Help connect volunteers with meaningful opportunities including patient visits, bereavement support, office projects, and community events 
  • Maintain volunteer calendars and assignment tracking systems 

Help Welcome and Prepare Volunteers

  • Coordinate onboarding activities including: 
    • Volunteer applications 
    • Background and reference checks 
    • Confidentiality agreements 
    • HIPAA training documentation 
    • Health screening records 
  • Maintain organized volunteer files and ensure documentation meets organizational and regulatory standards 
  • Assist with volunteer orientations and training sessions 
  • Prepare training materials and maintain records of completed competencies 

Keep Programs Organized and Compliant

  • Track volunteer service hours and assignments 
  • Maintain volunteer databases and reporting systems with accuracy and attention to detail 
  • Support compliance with Medicare hospice volunteer program requirements 
  • Assist with reporting related to volunteer contributions and regulatory expectations 

Build Strong Volunteer Relationships

  • Serve as a friendly and responsive point of contact for volunteers 
  • Communicate scheduling updates, assignments, and program information 
  • Assist with volunteer newsletters, meetings, and engagement initiatives 
  • Help plan volunteer appreciation events and recognition activities 

Collaborate Across Teams

  • Work closely with hospice and home care staff to identify volunteer support needs 
  • Coordinate volunteer participation in patient and family services 
  • Support community outreach, fundraising events, and special projects

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications and Requirements

  1. Associate’s degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  2. 1–2 years administrative support experience preferred.
  3. Experience in healthcare, nonprofit organizations, or volunteer programs preferred.
