POSITION SUMMARY:

The Graduate Assistant – Fitness Center is responsible for the oversight and supervision of the USM Fitness Center.   They are responsible for providing a clean, safe and welcoming environment for all users. The GA position will embrace and support the direction and mission of USM and the Athletic Department.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Greet all Fitness Center guests
• Monitor all activities within the Fitness Center
• Clean and maintain fitness center equipment
• Ensure fitness center space remains organized and equipment is in its proper place
• Enforce all fitness center policies in a consistent manner
• Provide assistance to all users in a safe and helpful manner on basic use of equipment and interpretation of Fitness Center policies
• Report all maintenance issues to Supervisor
• Respond to emergency situations per Fitness Center protocol
• Immediately notify Supervisor of any accident or emergency situation
• Other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s Degree required. 
• Must meet eligibility for USM Graduate Assistantship program which includes acceptance into one of the USM graduate programs. 
• Effective and positive interpersonal skills. 
• Must be able to successfully pass required background screening as appropriate. 
• Affinity with the overall mission of the University of Saint Mary. 
• CPR/AED certified, preferred
