Job Description

Position Overview

CGLA’s IT Operations Intern supports day-to-day technology and office operations by assisting with device inventory, shipping and receiving, technology recycling, workspace setup, and administrative IT support tasks. This position is ideal for someone interested in gaining hands-on experience in nonprofit technology operations, IT asset management, and workplace support.

The intern will work closely with the Operations and IT team to help maintain organized technology workflows, support staff equipment needs, and ensure devices are properly tracked, stored, shipped, and recycled.

This position is unpaid, but CGLA is open to applicants that have their own external funding sources. Timeline is flexible, but preference is for a commitment from June 1, 2026 through August 7, 2026.

Key Responsibilities

IT & Operations Support

·       Assist with shipping, receiving, and tracking laptops, monitors, and office technology equipment.

·       Prepare devices for onboarding and offboarding, including organizing accessories and labeling equipment.

·       Support inventory tracking and organization of IT assets and storage areas.

·       Coordinate and assist with recycling and disposal of outdated or damaged technology equipment.

·       Help maintain accurate equipment logs and asset management records.

·       Assist with workstation setups, desk moves, and peripheral distribution.

·       Provide basic technical support for office devices and technology requests.

·       Support vendor pickups, delivery coordination, and office technology logistics.

·       Assist with maintaining organized office and storage spaces related to technology and operations.

·       Support additional administrative and operational projects as needed.

Qualifications

·       High school diploma or GED required; some college coursework preferred.

·       Interest in IT support, operations, technology management, or nonprofit administration.

·       Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

·       Comfortable lifting and moving office equipment and boxed devices when needed.

·       Basic familiarity with Microsoft 365 tools such as Outlook, Teams, Excel, and SharePoint.

·       Strong communication and time-management skills.

·       Ability to handle equipment and organizational information responsibly and professionally.

·       Positive attitude, willingness to learn, and ability to work collaboratively.

Learning Outcomes

·       Hands-on experience with IT asset management and device lifecycle processes.

·       Exposure to nonprofit technology operations and workplace support systems.

·       Experience coordinating shipping, receiving, and equipment logistics.

·       Understanding of technology recycling and equipment handling best practices.
