How you’ll contribute 

An Intern, Pharmacy who excels in this role:

• All tasks are completed under the direct supervision of a Virginia licensed pharmacist

• Will contribute to the maintenance of a safe working environment and the employee’s own personal safety by following all policies and procedures and performing all tasks safely.

• Aids in dispensing of all inpatient and outpatient medications, including IV admixtures, within an acceptable time frame under the direct supervision of a VA licensed pharmacist.

• Understands and keeps complete and accurate records of all pharmacy transactions.

• May aid in monitoring of medication therapy and make suggestions for improvement when appropriate under the direct supervision of a VA licensed pharmacist.

• Performs extemporaneous compounding or directly monitors technicians compounding products under the direct supervision of a Virginia licensed pharmacist

• Works with the supervising pharmacist to obtain the competencies needed to operate as licensed pharmacist.

What we’re looking for 

Applicants should have a high school diploma or equivalent required with anticipated graduation from an ACPE accredited School of Pharmacy with a doctorate of pharmacy.  Anticipating pharmacist licensure in VA.  Additional requirements include:

• Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. 

• Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

• Registration as Pharmacy Intern with Virginia Board of Pharmacy.

• Must receive Virginia Pharmacist licensure within 6 months of date hired.
