How you’ll contribute
An Intern, Pharmacy who excels in this role:
All tasks are completed under the direct supervision of a Virginia licensed pharmacist
Will contribute to the maintenance of a safe working environment and the employee’s own personal safety by following all policies and procedures and performing all tasks safely.
Aids in dispensing of all inpatient and outpatient medications, including IV admixtures, within an acceptable time frame under the direct supervision of a VA licensed pharmacist.
Understands and keeps complete and accurate records of all pharmacy transactions.
May aid in monitoring of medication therapy and make suggestions for improvement when appropriate under the direct supervision of a VA licensed pharmacist.
Performs extemporaneous compounding or directly monitors technicians compounding products under the direct supervision of a Virginia licensed pharmacist
Works with the supervising pharmacist to obtain the competencies needed to operate as licensed pharmacist.

What we’re looking for
Applicants should have a high school diploma or equivalent required with anticipated graduation from an ACPE accredited School of Pharmacy with a doctorate of pharmacy. Anticipating pharmacist licensure in VA. Additional requirements include:
Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Registration as Pharmacy Intern with Virginia Board of Pharmacy.
Must receive Virginia Pharmacist licensure within 6 months of date hired.
