Description

Primary Function:

Performs the duties of Material Handler, Set-Up Prep and under the direction of the trainer, completes the required training to become a Process Tech I.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Material Handler duties: providing workstations with raw materials, ensures dryers and vacuums are operating properly, blends raw materials, grinds, and blends scrap raw materials. Cleans and maintains dryers, grinders, and other equipment to avoid contamination.
  • Set-Up Prep duties: prepares tools and peripheral equipment for mold set-ups, assists with installation of molds and start-up activities, removes and stores molds and tools after set-up, performs preventative maintenance and TPM (total preventative maintenance) tasks on mold and auxiliary equipment.
  • Process Line Technician Training: Under the guidance of the trainer performs tasks associated with their current training. Completes all assigned work and assessments within established timelines.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Maintains and continuously improves 5-S standards within work cell.
  • Completes assignments related to training that are not on-the-job learning opportunities such as job shadowing, assigned reading and coursework, Wisestein and ERP training.
  • Works within established safety guidelines.

Requirements

Required Skill/Knowledge:

Required to successfully complete the Material Handler and Set-Up coursework in combination with a minimum of 3-6 months working in the Material Handler position within Wise Plastics. Self-starter who takes the initiative to complete training and coursework and takes ownership of their learning, collaborative team player, ability to apply critical thinking in order to solve problems, attention to detail and organized, good communication skills both written and verbal with ability to read written materials and follow work instructions, basic computer skills, able to work off shifts (2nd and 3rd shift), good interpersonal skills, dependable, able to adapt to frequent changes, basic math skills. Demonstrates safe work behaviors and a willingness to improve and develop skills.

Preferred Skills / Knowledge:

Previous manufacturing experience, use of hand and power tools, ISO standards, use of pallet jacks or other industrial mobile equipment.

Education Level / Required Certification:

High School Diploma/GED or equivalent

Additional Information:

Frequently required to reach with hands and arms, push, pull, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, sit, walk, stand or balance and work within tight spaces. Ability to climb stairs and ladders. Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 55 pounds. Exposure to noise and odor of plastic. Exposure to liquid colorants, alcohol, cleaning, and slip agents. Requires use of personal protective equipment. Required to operate overhead crane and electric pallet jacks. Will be required to satisfactorily complete all assessments and assignments prior to advancement to the next level in training program. Must be able to work 2nd or 3rd shift. Overtime as required. Other duties as assigned.
