PPMC offers a unique opportunity to engage in a variety of specialties which allow us the honor of creating positive outcomes for people who are, potentially, having some of the worst days of their lives. We have a thriving cardiac/STEMI program, an incredibly talented IR program which includes treatment for PE, embolizations, and interventional cancer treatment, and a neuro/Stroke program.
The team here at PPMC is empowered to speak up and cultivate processes which directly impact patients lives. Of recent note, our team - under the direction of one of our acute care RNs - developed a pilot project to reduce door-to-device time (D2D) for our Stroke population. Not only have they shaved more than 14 minutes from our stroke average D2D time, but they set a new hospital record of 50 minutes for D2D in 2024! (The national goal for D2D is 90 minutes.)
Radiology Interventional Technologists (RIT) working in the CVL play an integral role on our four-person teams. RITs not only operate our Philips fluoroscopy units, but they are also trained in setting up and operating various intravascular imaging (Philips IVUS, Abbott OCT), atherectomy equipment (including rotoblator, CSI, Shockwave, and laser), thrombectomy equipment (Penumbra, AngioJet, Inari), and circulating during procedures. An ideal candidate for this team is an ambitious individual who is open to growing with the ever-changing field that is percutaneous interventional treatment. Someone who is excited to help others when they are at their lowest point - and can do so in a kind and compassionate manner.
Under the direct supervision of the physician, provides Cardiovascular/Radiologic care to patients for the purpose of diagnosis and/or treatment of anatomic and physiologic disorders; Assists physician as required and does related work as assigned. Monitors radiation safety during procedures.
