Description

Position Summary: The Patient Coordinator is responsible for relieving doctors and other medical personnel of administrative and clerical work by checking out patients and scheduling future appointments. Greets all patients presenting a warm and caring environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Greet and directs patients.
  • Verify patient demographics and insurances.
  • Update any changes to patient’s account in EMR.
  • Checks out patients after their office visit.
  • Schedules follow up appointments.
  • Sends out physician orders/radiology & labs.
  • Obtains prior authorizations for radiology.
  • Coordinates follow up visits with outside testing that needs performed.
  • Keeps x-ray and other medical records, performs secretarial tasks, and completes lab requisition forms.
  • Keys data into computer to maintain office and patient records.
  • Communicates and works closely with physicians.
  • Cross train with front desk personnel.
  • All additional tasks as requested by management.

Requirements

Qualification/Requirement:

  • Ability to apply a common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving occasional, last-minute changes in generally standardized situations.

Education/Training/Experience:

  • High school diploma or a GED
  • Six months related experience and / or training
  • Knowledge of EMR, medical terminology, ICD-10 and CPT codes a plus.
