Registration & Collections Internship (Temporary, Part-Time)

Registration & Collections

SUMMARY

Reporting to the Registration Administrator, Exhibitions, the intern will have the opportunity to learn about projects related to documenting the permanent collection, inventorying and cataloguing objects, incoming and outgoing loans and exhibitions. The intern will be exposed to all areas of registration. The internships are primarily based at LACMA’s main campus but the interns are expected to travel to off-site storage locations within Los Angeles County. 

The Registration Department creates and maintains the official records for all of the objects in the LACMA collections or on loan to the museum. 

This is a 13-week paid internship, approximately 16 hours per week at $17.87/hour.
Anticipated Start Date: June 1, 2026 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assists with exhibition-related tasks, including preparing installation and deinstallation documents, gallery inventory, and archiving past exhibition files

  • Learns introductory skills for data entry and record extraction related to exhibitions using TMS, Adobe, Google Suite, and Microsoft systems

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Internship applicants must be currently enrolled in an academic program or have recently graduated within 1 year.

  • Completed coursework in museum studies, art history, art, anthropology, archaeology, history, and library science.
