Job Description

Join our team of passionate hospitality professionals at the Hyatt Regency Coralville Hotel & Conference Center where we strive to give guests memorable experiences and access to the best restaurants, nightlife, and outdoor recreation in the city. POSITION PURPOSE: To repair and maintain hotel equipment and building systems to provide a safe and comfortable environment for guests and employees. To answer guest complaints and communicate with guests and associates.

*Positions include a combination of 1st (7 AM - 3:30 PM) & 2nd (2:30 PM - 11 PM) SHIFT HOURS.

What you will be doing:

  • Repairs furniture and structures (cabinets, tables, chairs, doors, windows and wallpaper).
  • Paints and finishes furniture and structures.
  • Checks and makes minor repairs on electrical systems such as HVAC, refrigeration controls, vacuum cleaners, hairdryers, lightning systems, television sets and phones.
  • Checks and makes minor repairs on plumbing systems and fixtures such as pipe lines, valves, toilets, showers, sinks and cutting of keys as well as major repair of locks.
  • Performs preventive maintenance of plumbing and electrical systems according to the preventive maintenance schedule.
  • Maintain cleanliness, sanitation and personal hygiene.
  • Full knowledge and participation in the hotel’s Fire, Safety, Security, and Environmental plan and/or committees.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What we are looking for:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous engineering experience preferred.
  • Must be able to read and interpret documents such as Lockout Tag Out, MSDS, safety awareness information, maintenance instructions and procedural manuals.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with guests and associates
  • Must be able to work as an independent mechanic
  • Must be able to analyze problems, identify course of action and implement solutions.
  • Represent the company in a courteous and well-groomed manner.
  • Must be punched in, in uniform and ready for work as scheduled.
  • Must be able to use and understand hand and power tools.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, bend, kneel, lift, grasp, twist and stretch.
  • Must be flexible with a positive attitude.
