How you will make an Impact (Job Summary)

SPX is a diverse team of unique individuals who all make an impact. Join our Human Resources team as a 2026 summer intern, where you’ll gain hands-on experience supporting core HR functions while contributing to employee engagement initiatives and daily operations. This internship is ideal for students pursuing degrees in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, or related fields who want exposure to how HR supports a global manufacturing organization.

  • Support day-to-day HR operations including maintaining employee records, updating HR systems, and preparing documentation.
  • Assist with recruitment activities such as posting job descriptions, reviewing resumes, and participating in onboarding.
  • Contribute to employee engagement and development initiatives, including organizing events, supporting training programs, and gathering feedback.
  • Partner with HR team members to ensure compliance with company policies, labor laws, and confidentiality standards.
  • Gain exposure to HR systems (HRIS/payroll), talent development programs, and organizational processes that support business strategy.

This internship provides the opportunity to build foundational knowledge in HR operations, strengthen organizational and communication skills, and gain valuable experience working in a fast-paced, people-focused environment. What we are looking for (Required/Ideal Experience, Skills, Education)

We each bring something to the table, and we are looking for someone who has:

Required Experience & Skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and manage multiple priorities
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Ideal Experience & Skills

  • Familiarity with HRIS systems, ATS (applicant tracking systems), or payroll software, helpful
  • Participation in student HR associations, SHRM student chapters, or business clubs
  • Experience in customer service, office administration, or student leadership roles

Education & Certifications

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, or a related field
  • Coursework in HR management, employment law, organizational behavior, or labor relations, helpful
  • Cumulative college GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • High school diploma or GED required.

Travel & Working Environment

  • Full time on-site schedule
  • The position may require working occasionally outside normal work hours. 
  • Occasional lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Keyboarding/typing.
  • Ability to read effectively from a computer screen and/or a paper copy.
  • Ability to handle a large volume of work and perform multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally.

Our intern and co-op positions are paid, and we offer housing stipends for students who are not local to the Cuba, Missouri area.
