At the Eastern Kentucky Correctional Complex, the mission is to promote safety for the citizens of the
Commonwealth by operating an efficient adult correctional institution. Our main purpose is to provide a safe,
secure, humane environment for its residents and to prepare incarcerated felons for a successful reintegration
into society using constructive classification, employment training programs and treatment services and social
programs.
The Classification & Treatment Officer is vital to this mission by performing duties in the evaluation,
assessment and counseling of inmates.
The responsibilities may include:

Interviewing, evaluating and assessing inmates to identify behavioral patterns
- Develop case history on inmates
- Serve on committees to determine classification
- Prepare reports to assist with classification
- Provide daily counsel to inmates regarding the institution as well as personal or family matters
- Respond to inmate requests and outside agencies

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION:
Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS:
NONE
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE:
NONE
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION:
Additional experience in corrections, law enforcement, or a related field will substitute for the education on a year for year basis. Current or prior military experience will substitute for the required education on a year for year basis.

Working Conditions
Work is typically performed in an office setting within a correctional institution.
Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
