Job Description

Job Summary:

The Hospital Patient Transporter is responsible for safely and efficiently transporting patients, medical equipment, and other essential items throughout the hospital. This role plays a critical part in ensuring timely patient care and maintaining smooth hospital operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safely transport patients via wheelchair, stretcher, or bed to various departments (e.g., radiology, surgery, discharge).
  • Assist patients in and out of transport vehicles, beds, and wheelchairs as needed.
  • Ensure patient comfort and safety during transport, including proper use of restraints and equipment.
  • Deliver medical records, specimens, medications, and equipment between departments.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of transport equipment.
  • Respond promptly to transport requests via hospital communication systems.
  • Communicate effectively with nursing staff, patients, and other hospital personnel.
  • Follow infection control and safety procedures at all times.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED pref
  • Previous experience in a healthcare or customer service setting preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology is a plus.
  • Ability to lift and move patients and equipment (up to 50 lbs).
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • CPR certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).

  • Fast-paced hospital setting.
  • Frequent walking, standing, and lifting.
  • Exposure to patients with various medical conditions.
