Activities Assistant

Activity Department

Overview
As an Activity Assistant, my role is to help improve the daily lives of residents in assisted living, nursing homes, and memory care settings. I focus on creating meaningful activities that keep residents socially engaged, mentally stimulated, and emotionally supported. This role requires patience, compassion, and a genuine interest in working with seniors, especially those living with Alzheimer’s or dementia.

Schedule: Sunday to Thursday 9AM - 4:30 PM

Responsibilities

  • Plan and lead activities that match residents’ interests, abilities, and needs
  • Encourage social interaction through group activities and community-building events
  • Support residents with daily tasks when needed so they can comfortably participate
  • Work closely with nursing staff and team members to develop personalized activity plans
  • Keep the environment safe, positive, and engaging during all activities
  • Track participation and note progress to help support individual care plans
  • Build meaningful relationships by offering companionship and emotional support
  • Help organize and manage activity schedules to keep everything running smoothly

Skills & Experience

  • Experience planning events or activities, especially in senior care settings
  • Background in assisted living, nursing homes, or long-term care is helpful
  • Understanding of Alzheimer’s, dementia, and memory care
  • Experience with recreational therapy or working with individuals with disabilities
  • Strong communication skills when working with residents, families, and staff
  • Knowledge of caregiving techniques and aging-related needs
  • Ability to stay organized and adjust schedules as needed
  • Experience in home care or community-based care is a plus
