Job Description

Phlebotomist Technician I (Entry-Level) – Mobile team 

No experience required — we train the right people.

At We Are Blood, our mission is to provide and protect the community blood supply while inspiring Central Texans to save lives locally. When you join our team, you play a direct role in ensuring patients across our region have access to life-saving blood when they need it most.

We are currently hiring a Phlebotomist Technician I to join our Mobile team. 

What You’ll Do

  • Determine donor eligibility
  • Learn and perform phlebotomy techniques
  • Monitor and manage donor reactions
  • Provide a safe, positive experience for donors at our donor centers

Schedule & Availability

  • Full-time (40 hours/week)
  • Locations: North Lamar, South Austin, Round Rock, or Cedar Park
  • Must be available Monday–Sunday between 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
  • Schedule includes evenings and at least one weekend day
  • Schedules are assigned based on business needs

Key Responsibilities

  • Report to work as scheduled and comply with organizational timekeeping policies
  • Maintain donation site and equipment according to SOPs, including setup, quality control, routine maintenance, and cleanup
  • Accurately process allogeneic whole blood donations, including registration, medical history screening, vital signs (pulse, blood pressure, hematocrit, temperature), and phlebotomy
  • Respond to donor reactions according to SOPs, including monitoring symptoms, taking vital signs, and documenting appropriately
  • Complete special projects and other duties as assigned by leadership

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Compassionate interpersonal skills
  • Phlebotomy and/or vital signs experience preferred (not required)
  • Certifications such as Phlebotomist, Medical Assistant, EMT, Paramedic, or LVN are a plus
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow SOPs

Physical & Mental Requirements

  • Ability to regularly work scheduled shifts at any of our locations and mobile sites as determined by business needs is required.
  • Ability to interpret and respond appropriately to sensitive and confidential information and situations
  • Ability to maintain focus and make sound judgments in a busy or distracting environment
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks while maintaining a high level of accuracy
  • Ability to read and follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and maintain complete and accurate records
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including Saturday and/or Sunday
  • Good manual dexterity
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds unassisted
  • Ability to stand for extended periods

Additional Requirements

  • Must be able to work a full-time flexible schedule, including weekends
  • Must be able to work at any assigned location or mobile site as determined by business needs
  • Background check and two professional references required
  • Drug-free workplace
