Job Description

Position: ACT Medical Assistant

FTE: Full-time, Non-Exempt

Unit: UAW 

Department/Location: Psychiatric Services - Outpatient

Compensation: $17.24 - $22.86. The Final job offer is based on several factors (internal equity, skills, education, experience, and credentials).

We are seeking a Medical Assistant responsible for direct service to clients in the Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) program. ACT is a team-oriented, evidence based program that serves adults experiencing severe and persistent mental illness. 

This position is 40 hours a week, Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. There are no weekend, on call, or holiday requirements for this position. This assignment is in person at 1131 Ionia Ave NW Grand Rapids, Michigan 49503. Some travel in the community may be required. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of a Medical Assistant certificate program from an accredited Medical Assistant program
  • Current valid CPR certification, or obtain within 6 months of hire
  • Education or training in the basics of medical terminology
    • Computer skills, including word processing, spreadsheets, database management and e-mail
    • Lived experiences with mental illness/developmental disabilities/substance use disorders valued
    • Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment and skills and capabilities of bridging language/cultural barriers to Network180 services within diverse communities

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • CMA certification through the American Association of Medical Assistants or the RMA certification through American Medical Technologists preferred
  • Strong understanding of services for individuals experiencing psychiatric and substance concerns, and a strong recovery philosophy, preferred
  • One year of experience as a Medical Assistant in a clinical setting, preferred
  • Experience working with an Electronic Health Record, preferred
