About the Role:

The Medical Receptionist serves as the first point of contact for patients and visitors in a healthcare setting, playing a crucial role in creating a welcoming and efficient environment. This position is responsible for managing patient appointments, handling inquiries, and ensuring accurate and confidential processing of patient information. The Medical Receptionist coordinates communication between patients, medical staff, and administrative personnel to facilitate smooth daily operations. They are essential in maintaining organized records and supporting billing and insurance processes. Ultimately, this role contributes significantly to patient satisfaction and the overall effectiveness of the medical facility.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in a receptionist or administrative role, preferably in a medical or healthcare environment.
  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare procedures.
  • Proficiency with computer systems and electronic health record (EHR) software.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification as a Medical Administrative Assistant or similar credential.
  • Experience with specific EHR platforms such as Epic, Cerner, or Meditech.
  • Familiarity with insurance billing and coding processes.
  • Bilingual abilities, especially in Spanish and English.
  • Training in customer service or patient relations.

Responsibilities:

  • Greet and check in patients upon arrival, verifying personal and insurance information accurately.
  • Schedule, reschedule, and confirm patient appointments using electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Answer phone calls and respond to patient inquiries regarding services, appointments, and general information.
  • Maintain patient records and ensure confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Coordinate with medical staff to communicate patient needs and update appointment statuses.
  • Process billing information and assist patients with insurance forms and payment procedures.
  • Manage office supplies and ensure the reception area is clean, organized, and professional.
