Alta Equipment Group is looking for an Accounting Intern to be based out of our Livonia, MI headquarters. This would be a general accounting position responsible for ownership of various financial statement areas. The position will provide excellent opportunities for growth and advancement for candidates demonstrating strong work ethic and leadership characteristics.

Responsibilities:

  • Produce/review monthly journal entries for various areas of responsibility
  • Complete/review monthly reconciliations for areas of responsibility. Assure complete understanding of the activities in assigned accounts.  Identify and resolve reconciling items in a timely manner.
  • Participate in monthly financial statement reviews for assigned entities with finance leadership and operations. Reviews should be completed ahead of time to help lead the discussion of the monthly results for accounting completeness and accuracy.
  • Maintain SOX compliance in all areas of responsibility.
  • Assist with internal and outside auditor requests for 10-Q, 10-K and Sox Control testing.
  • Candidates will have the opportunity to lead ad hoc projects. We are looking for candidates excited about expanding their knowledge base and engaging in growth opportunities.

Qualifications:

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Strong analytical & problem-solving skills
  • Understanding of internal controls and U.S. GAAP
  • Ability to communicate effectively across functional teams and interpret a variety of instructions including written and oral
  • Ability to analyze and efficiently utilize large amounts of information
  • Self-starter with a desire for process improvement and learning
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including advanced excel skills (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, XLOOKUP, Cell formatting, Conditional Formatting, etc.)

Physical Demands/Work Environment:

  • Physical/Sensory Functions: Regularly will use hands, talk/hear, sit, will reach with hands and arms; Occasionally will stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
  • Lift and/or Move Functions: Frequently will lift up to 10 pounds; Occasionally will lift up to 50 pounds.
