Job Description

Summer Office Assistant - Environmental Health & Safety (Work-Study Required)

  • Assist the Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Department with the campus life safety inspections (fire extinguishers, AED units, eyewash stations, etc.) and some office functions (making documents/trainings, filing, running errands, etc.).
  • Primary Job Functions:
    - Weekly eyewash inspections (~5%)
    - Monthly fire extinguisher inspections (~60%)
    - Monthly AED inspections (~15%)
    - Office Assistant (~20%)
  • Science majors preferred (not required), as this position involves some work within research and teaching laboratories.
  • This position requires good communication skills (not afraid to talk to/interact with individuals across campus), organization of files/documents, use of Word/Excel/Power Point, reliable/punctual, good handwriting,  and outgoing.
  • Physical demands include a lot of walking to complete the safety inspections.  You will get your steps and get to know the buildings better.
  • EHS prefers to have chunks of work time for each shift (two hours or more).  Office hours are 7:00am – 3:00pm.
