Job Description

Job Requirements

Under the supervision of licensed nursing personnel, the Patient Care Technician I delivers direct patient care, including obtaining vital signs, assisting with activities of daily living, performing phlebotomy, and collecting specimen samples. This position ensures patient safety and comfort, actively participates in admission, transfer, and discharge procedures, and collaborates with the healthcare team to monitor and communicate changes in patient condition. Additional responsibilities encompass wound care, urinary catheter management, blood glucose monitoring, orthopedic device maintenance, and upholding a safe and organized clinical environment. The technician strictly follows safety protocols, promptly responds to patient alarms, and supports the enhancement of patient outcomes through cost-effective practices and efficient patient flow, while performing all other duties as assigned.



Work Experience

Education and Experience requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, current Maryland state certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA), and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. While no previous experience is required, prior direct patient care experience in a healthcare facility is preferred. Candidates must possess strong verbal and written communication skills, the ability to maintain interpersonal relationships and work effectively within a team, and the capability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple duties in stressful situations. Additionally, proficiency in learning and using computer systems is essential. The role requires demonstrating proper techniques for obtaining accurate blood glucose results and documenting findings, as well as performing delegated nursing tasks with sensitivity to the age, culture, ethnicity, spirituality, and individual diagnostic needs of patients.
