Role description:

The Vivint Foundation QA team is seeking an QA Engineer to test new embedded Linux software on our products. This is a technical position where you will have the opportunity to work with new technologies, collaborate with hardware and software engineers, and help ensure high quality products for more than two million customers. 

Required Skills/Experience:

  • 1-2 years of hands on experience with Embedded Hardware testing
  • Engineering or CS degree preferred
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills
  • Good understanding of Linux software and UI and API level testing
  • Linux background (system level) 
  • Understanding of operating systems Linux daemons etc. 
  • Linux Shell Scripting experience 
  • Ability to debug system level issues 
  • Familiar with software testing principles 
  • Understanding of cloud computing and distributed systems 
  • Understanding and Mobile Software and interfaces
  • Ability to make decisions and perform risk and product impact analysis
  • Excellent interpersonal skills 
  • Demonstrated experience writing test plans and test cases and have a quality mindset 
  • Well organized, creative, and detail-oriented, a self-starter capable of identifying problems, taking initiative to propose solutions, and successfully executing plans. 

What is nice to have:  

  • Passionate about hardware and systems with smart devices 
  • Python coding and troubleshooting experience 
  • Reliability testing experience 
  • Familiarity with networking and databases 
  • Experience testing and troubleshooting mobile apps
