Job Description

Role Summary:

The Service Technician I executes the setup, installation, and repair of electronic communication and surveillance systems for remote and field-based sites. This position provides field support for technology products such as communications and networked surveillance equipment. It requires hands-on technical skills, strong troubleshooting ability, and a customer-first attitude.

Role Priorities / Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure, and repair communication systems. Including: mobile cellular communications equipment, wireless network products, and satellite equipment (e.g., PBX, modems, routers, satellite terminals, and hard-wired connections).
  • Support maintenance and repair of surveillance systems including IP cameras, NVRs, and supporting powered components.
  • Configure and troubleshoot network, telephony, and satellite terminal-related systems.
  • Perform routine maintenance and system checks; complete field retrofits and upgrades.
  • Communicate job progress and issues to customers, project managers, and management.
  • Cross train and collaborate with additional field operations as required.

Essential Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 

  • Knowledge of basic networking concepts and low-voltage systems.
  • Familiarity with various Video Management Systems (VMS) and IP-based cameras.
  • Ability to work independently or with minimal remote guidance.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong customer service orientation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to lift up to 60 lbs and travel as needed.
  • This position may travel to Georgia and South Carolina for rig ups and rig downs but will be back home most nights.

Education or Certification required (if applicable):

  • Training from a two-year vocational or technical program or equivalent field experience.
  • 1–2 years of experience in surveillance, communications, or related low-voltage installation work.
