Job Description

Audio Visual Intern (Temporary, Part-Time)

SUMMARY
Reporting to the Manager, the Audio Visual Intern will learn concert tasks performed by the Manager and staff while gaining greater knowledge and hands-on experience in working with live concert sound reinforcement. Shadowing the Manager and AV staff, the intern will learn best practices through various tasks, including stage plot analysis, cabling, microphone set-up and placement, monitor support, sound check needs, and concert breakdown.

LACMA’s Audio Visual department supports LACMA’s Music Programs, which present over 100 concerts per year. The concert series includes Jazz at LACMA, Latin Sounds, and Art & Music, reaching thousands of audience members each week on the LACMA campus.

This is a 26-week paid internship, approximately 16 hours per week at $17.87/hour.
 Anticipated Start Date: June 1, 2026

 RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Learns core Audio Visual operations by supporting the Manager and AV team during live concerts

  • Assists with stage plot analysis and preparation for performances

  • Shadows AV staff to understand best practices in live sound reinforcement

  • Supports cabling, microphone setup, and proper placement for performances

  • Assists with monitor setup and on-stage sound support

  • Learns and observes sound check procedures and requirements

  • Helps with the concert setup and breakdown processes

  • Gains hands-on experience supporting high-volume concert programming across LACMA’s Music Programs (including Jazz, Latin Sounds, and Art & Music series)

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Internship applicants must be currently enrolled in an academic program, or recently graduated within 1 year, and reside in the Los Angeles vicinity.
