Job Description

The Mechanical Engineering Intern will support mechanical engineering work on programs that include classified projects. This internship provides hands-on experience with mechanical design, prototyping, and test activities while working in environments that require a DoD Secret Security Clearance and compliance with security procedures.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Support mechanical design and analysis efforts, including updating engineering documentation for hardware used on government programs.

  • Assist with prototype builds, test setup, data collection, and summarizing test results.

  • Follow all applicable security requirements for classified work, including handling and discussing information only in approved environments and adhering to local site procedures.

  • Complete required training within required timelines and comply with reporting requirements associated with holding a clearance.

  • Collaborate with engineers and cross-functional teammates while maintaining documentation discipline and configuration control.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited Mechanical Engineering or closely related bachelor’s or master’s degree program.

  • Ability to follow strict process, safety, and security requirements in a lab/engineering environment.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security clearance.

  • U.S. Citizenship required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior internship, research, or project experience involving hardware development, testing, or manufacturing.

  • Exposure to CAD, mechanical drawings, and basic test methods.

  • Experience working in controlled environments such as labs, shops, test ranges, etc.

  • Active DoD Secret Security Clearance.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $48,100.00 - $86,950.00
