Grounds Maintenance Worker 1

POSITION SUMMARY  

The Grounds Maintenance Worker 1 performs general landscaping and maintenance activities in parks, grounds, and lake dams, etc. in Bella Vista Village through landscaping, mowing, trimming, planting, fertilizing, etc. May require independent judgment in the disposition of routine matters without direct supervision. Will work under the direct supervision of the Grounds Maintenance Superintendent but will also take direction from the Grounds Maintenance Worker 2.  

REQUIREMENTS, ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES   

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following: 

Provides support for the department. In addition to other duties as assigned, will be capable of maintaining grounds, lake shores and parks in pristine condition. Many work assignments are repetitive in nature and, once learned, can be carried on independently or with limited supervision. 

  • Must be capable of maintaining grounds, lake shores and parks in pristine condition 

  • Operates hand and power tools 

  • Operates small power-driven equipment like mowers and weed eaters, chainsaws, etc. 

  • Maintains grounds of facilities in a neat and professional manner 

  • Mows, trims, edges, sweeps, rakes, cultivates digs, waters, shovels, fertilizes, plants and seeds 

  • Lays sod, etc. 

  • Maintains parks, facilities, parking lots, lake dams and polices grounds 

  • Performs minor adjustments to mowers and equipment. 

  • General housekeeping (shop) 

  • Must be 21 years of age and have a valid driver’s license to meet the minimum requirements for driving/operating company equipment and vehicles  

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)  

  • Work requires continual attention to details 

  • Must exhibit excellence in Customer Service with all customers/members  

  • Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily 

  • Must have high school education or up to one-month related experience or training or equivalent combination of education and experience  

  • Must have and maintain a driver’s license 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is not regularly required to sit. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Greater than 50 pounds may require a team lift. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. Specific required movements include the following: trunk-bend, twist, rotate, push, pull, and carry, arm’s reach, and leg-lifts. Ability to navigate quickly and easily the property/building as required, meeting the job functions. The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
