Job Description

Full-time Yard Employee wanted at Flagler Cooperative Association in Flagler, Colorado! This entry-level, hands-on role helps make every day at our Ace Hardware store a great one.

Yard Employee Compensation:

  • $18.00 - $20.00/hour

YARD EMPLOYEE DAY-TO-DAY

You'll support positive customer experiences, enhance daily efficiency, and increase store profitability. We're looking for a helpful person who's willing to jump in wherever needed to help the cooperative meet our goals. You'll handle a variety of entry-level tasks while wearing PPE and following safety/regulatory guidelines. Responsibilities include (but aren't limited to):

  • Opening and closing the gates/buildings according to the store schedule
  • Greeting Ace Hardware customers, providing great customer service, and assisting with loading materials into vehicles as needed
  • Assisting customers with cutting glass, threading pipes, fixing window screens, and filling propane tanks
  • Removing seasonal items, creating new store displays, and helping with inventory processes
  • Sweeping floors, removing trash from the yard, and shoveling sidewalks in the winter
  • Unloading weekly freight and helping stock materials (lumber, concrete, insulation, building products, etc.)
  • Delivering products and installing appliances
  • Serving as a cashier when needed
  • Attending meetings, participating in training sessions, and staying current with changing technologies
  • Properly maintaining, cleaning, and storing equipment
  • Supporting continual improvement and customer satisfaction initiatives

QUALIFICATIONS

Our Yard Employee needs at least one of the following:

  • High school degree/GED equivalent
  • One to three months of related experience or training
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience

You'll also need these general requirements:

  • Ability to accurately read and follow safety documents, procedure manuals, operational/maintenance instructions, and diagrams
  • Ability to clearly express yourself verbally and in writing
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, reach, kneel, and lift 25 lbs (occasionally 100 lbs) throughout the day
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
  • Math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, measurements, fractions, etc.) with the ability to interpret bar graphs
  • Solid problem-solving skills
  • Collaboration and interpersonal skills
