Job Description

Milwaukee Valve Company is looking for a Buyer to join our Prairie Du Sac, WI team in Department 830.

Applicants are responsible scheduling and completing the required pre-employment requirement testing within 7 calendar days of offer acceptance.

Established in 1901, Milwaukee Valve manufactures valves for a variety of industries including Industrial, Commercial, Fire Protection, Marine and the dry bulk hauling industries. Our products have been installed on every U.S. Navy ship built for the last 50 years. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Interview vendors and recommends new sources of supply.
  • Places orders and follows up to expedite delivery.
  • Perform negotiations and recommendations for settlement for inferior or defective shipments or delays.
  • Negotiate costs of products, determines delivery and method of delivery.
  • Manage assigned commodities by maintaining and responding to system planning modifiers.
  • Travel to suppliers as required.
  • Maintain pricing database.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience –
 Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school, or six months to one year of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience. SAP experience preferred.

Language Skills - Ability to read, analyze and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating, maintenance instructions, and procedural manuals. Ability to write reports and business correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization.

Mathematical Skills – Be able to do buy vs make analysis using basic costing analysis.  Understanding of Engineering drawings, dimensions, and tolerances.

Reasoning Ability - Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardization situations.

Computer Skills - Use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, SAP.
