Position Summary:

Vallen's Quoting and Sourcing Specialist will assist in organizing and facilitating the preparation of the quote and sending market basket requests to our suppliers/manufactures. The position will conduct product research and analysis of competitive sources that will enable Vallen to secure new business. The Quoting and Sourcing Specialist works closely with Vallen Supplier Strategy making sure to utilize our focus vendor base to help secure Vallen's best cost.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist in organizing the preparation of project quotations/implementation assignments by sending market basket request to our suppliers/manufactures.
• Build relationships to help negotiate better cost; communicate with the Project Lead and Strategic Proposals Manager all critical supplier/vendor information that would benefit others pertaining to products, pricing and competitors.
• Analyze product specifications and conduct product matches and/or interchanges that meet customer requirements when assisting with securing new business, e.g., manufacturer part numbers and item descriptions as compared to Vallen's supply-based focus suppliers when completing a cross reference for quotes and implementations.
• Conduct product source competitiveness research and analysis via our internal ERP system, supplier web sites and Vallen focus supplier price sheets to position products at Vallen's best cost.
• Review and evaluate submitted quotations; confirm the accuracy and completeness of supplier quotes, data transferred into our ERP system, and the final customer submission for project product work.
• Address questions and ensure timely response with Vallen suppliers or Product Strategy Managers; follow-up and research quotes.
• Support the National Account RFQs process drive sales revenue by securing best Vallen cost or any type of deviated item cost for all projects or implementations.
• Complete self-driven continued education and commodity specific training in order to continue growth of product knowledge to become a specific product expert.
• Identify and conduct Process improvement for quoting related processes using LEAN methodology.
• Adhere to data standardization requirements and data integrity.
• Communicate via email to Team Lead of changing market basket conditions or suppliers.

Job Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent required
• 1 -2 years related experience and/or training
• Previous experience with industrial distribution preferred
• Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills
• Experience with Excel and Microsoft preferred
• Ability to handle large amounts of data
• Ability meet inflexible deadlines
• Ability to work independently with little supervision
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Excellent Interpersonal skills
• The ability to organize and work multiple projects at the same time
