POSITION PURPOSE:

The Risk Management Intern will provide support to the Risk Management team by assisting with insurance portfolio organization, claims data management, process documentation and operational efficiency initiatives.  The Intern will gain hands-on experience and develop skills to help prepare them for a career in corporate risk management, insurance or business operations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assist with cleaning up the insurance portfolio, ensuring accurate reporting and records are up to date policy information.
• Support the preparation, review, and distribution of risk-related reports for internal stakeholders.
• Assist in identifying discrepancies, gaps, or outdated information across portfolio records and recommend corrections.
• Assist with organizing budgeting, invoicing, and data flow for Workers’ Compensation and General Liability claims for operational efficiency. 
• Support tracking of claims-related expenses, invoices, and reserves.
• Help maintain organized claims files and documentation to ensure timely and accurate processing.
• Identify opportunities to improve and streamline data flow to improve and optimize operational efficiency.
• Assist with creating, drafting, and cleaning up Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Manage process of moving documents from the P drive to Shared Drive, ensuring proper organization, naming conventions, and access permissions.

QUALIFICATIONS – EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS:

Education/Work Experience:

• Undergraduate student, college seniors, or recent college graduate (within the last 12 months).
• Must be actively enrolled or recently graduated from a degree program in Risk Management, Legal, Finance, Business Administration or related field.

The pay range identified is the hourly or salary rate El Pollo Loco expects to pay for the posted position. This range does not include any benefits or bonus opportunities that might be available for the position based on position and eligibility criteria. At El Pollo Loco, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at the high end of the range.   Individual pay decisions will vary based on a variety of factors including years of experience, industry experience, education, geography, etc.
