Title: STUDENT: Event Assistant, Alumni & Family Engagement (Summer)

Position Compensation: $13.50 per hour
Location: Main Campus

Position Summary:

The Event Assistant supports Alumni & Family Engagement by helping bring impactful campus and community events to life. Through event planning, marketing support, and on-site execution, this role helps create welcoming experiences for UNW alumni, families, and community members at events including Homecoming, Commencement, Parent Orientation, the State Fair, and more.

This is a summer position with the opportunity to continue into the 2026-2027 academic year. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support all phases of event planning, marketing and execution, including general event tasks and volunteer recruitment.
  • Work with team to assist with event specific content creation and editing for social media and newsletters.
  • Update event attendee information in Raiser’s Edge and other pertinent software.
  • Communicate with and assist staff, faculty, students, and/or guests
  • Assist in general clerical duties.
  • Perform other duties as requested or assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Experience with Instagram and other social media platforms
  • Able to interact with a variety of individuals in a professional, tactful and courteous manner
  • Maintain a growing, personal relationship with Jesus Christ, reflect His character in all interactions, and faithfully uphold and embrace Northwestern’s mission, Doctrinal Statement and Declaration of Christian Community

  • Independent & Teamwork: Capable of working both independently and collaboratively, with minimal supervision. 
  • Confidentiality: Maintains discretion and handles sensitive information appropriately. 
  • Organizational Skills: Strong time management and problem-solving abilities; able to prioritize and meet deadlines with attention to detail. 
  • Technical Proficiency: Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office and related software. 
  • Written & Verbal Communication: Strong writing, editing, proofreading, and verbal communication skills. 
  • Punctuality & Initiative: Prompt, self-motivated, and able to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment with shifting responsibilities.
  • Background Check: Must pass background check as a condition of employment.
