Description

 Anderson Valley Health Center (AVHC) is located in beautiful Mendocino county known for its Wine, Waves and Wilderness, 2.5 hours north of San Francisco. Anderson Valley Health Center is a Federally Qualified Health Center and is the sole provider in the Anderson Valley area. We serve a unique population of general patients and migrant and seasonal farm workers. AVHC is currently seeking a Medical Assistant to join our family and help us provide excellent care to the residents of Anderson Valley. 

We are looking for a candidate who is mission driven, provides patient-centered care and has impeccable clinical skills. Our health center staff are a wonderful group of dedicated, professional individuals, committed to equity and inclusion. Our work environment is flexible and friendly. We are a busy clinic as the sole provider of medical, dental and behavioral health care in the area. Candidates must work well under pressure. Bilingual is preferred but not required. Potential to learn new skills and obtain higher positions with experience and proven work-experience. 

Job Type: Full-time 

Pay: From $21.00-$25 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week 

Requirements

  • Outstanding communication skills
  • Prepares patient exam rooms
  • Performs preliminary procedures to expedite patient flow
  • Performs medical procedures as directed by providers
  • Provide patient education per provider direction(e.g. tests ordered, medications prescribed and follow-up treatment/visits)
  • Perform basic laboratory procedures and/or other procedures
  • Notes all phone conversations in patient chart
  • Check and order medical supplies
  • Sterilize medical supplies
  • Patient friendly demeanor
  • Attention to detail
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations (e.g. HIPAA)
  • Medical Office experience performing patient intake duties
  • Knowledge of basic communicable diseases
  • Knowledge of infection control practices
  • Ability to perform basic emergency care including CPR
  • Ability to deal with patients sympathetically and tactfully
  • Ability to work independently
  • Other duties as assigned
