Job Description

  • Must be able to work safely in a production environment.
  • Assemble all phases of power unit construction using a bill of material, arrangement drawing and schematic. (Use of hand tools such as tape measure, pneumatic tools and metal cutting equipment required.)
  • Fit and weld pipe joints and structural assemblies per established welding codes using various welding processes such as GTAW, GMAW, SMAW and FCAW.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision according to standard shop guidelines.
  • Maintain a clean work area.
  • Will work in an industrial environment in and around large machinery. 
  • Proper safety equipment is provided and must be worn at all times.
  • Overtime may be requested.
  • Perform other essential and related peripheral duties as may be assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school graduate from an accredited institution or equivalent (GED) with vocational/technical training in welding field/trade.
  • Candidates with one to two years prior welding experience and some mechanical background preferred.
  • Prior pipe welding experience is preferred.
  • Experience reading drawings and schematics is preferred.
  • Willingness to develop and refine proper welding techniques.
  • Openness to pursuing certification in crane, scissor/forklift operation.
  • Readiness to complete welder qualification testing.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with demonstrated capacity to listen carefully, follow directions, and complete work assignments in a timely manner.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs on a frequent basis.
  • Able to travel up to 20% as needed.
