The Certified Medical Assistant provides clinical support to the physician and mid-level providers. The Certified Medical Assistant provides instructions to patients as directed by the providers. The Certified Medical Assistant is also responsible for compliance with all OSHA/CLIA and HIPAA regulations and ensuring completion of all duties vital to business operations. The Certified Medical Assistant is a highly visible position that is always responsible for creating a positive impression with patients, family members, and other visitors to the office. Required Education and Experience

• High School degree or equivalent
• CMA or RMA certification 
• Phlebotomy Certification or successful completion of phlebotomy checklist within 6 months of hire
• Valid driver’s license, reliable operating transportation, and proof of current auto insurance

Preferred Education and Experience

• 1+ years’ experience in an outpatient medical office setting
• Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree

Essential Functions

• Provide patient care by giving clear direction to the patient, address patient concerns about the session
• Ensure completion of all forms vital to the revenue cycle (i.e., verification/clarification of orders, waivers for non-covered services, encounter form)
• Provide instructions to patient under direction of the provider
• Ensure complete and accurate information in the patient chart
• Clean and disinfect exam rooms
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, CLIA and HIPAA requirements
• Assist with completion of patient requests
• Manage referral process, outpatient test scheduling and precertification
• Manage medication prior-authorizations
• Interact with billing office as needed to resolve patient issues
• Provide patient with good customer service
• Document in chart and EHR the appropriate patient history and prepare patient for session
• Conduct urine drug screens and phlebotomy for blood specimen collection as required
• Complete prior authorizations and obtain physical and lab exams as required
• Perform medical Point of Care testing following established policy and procedures
• Administer oral and injectable medications per orders from the physician and mid-level providers following established medication administration policy and procedures
