Purpose:
The Backroom Coordinator is responsible for ensuring efficient inventory management, secure key control, and smooth receiving operations. The role supports overall store efficiency and security by maintaining consistency in backroom operations and optimizing stock flow.
Key Responsibilities
Key Control Management:
Maintain control over keys for compactor, receiving doors, and vendor doors.
Log key check-ins and check-outs and secure keys when not in use.
Report any lost or damaged keys promptly.
Receiving Operations:
Receive and verify shipments from trucks, DSD vendors, and direct shipments.
Inspect incoming goods for damage, accuracy, and quality.
Log discrepancies and submit reports for damaged or incorrect shipments.
Coordinate with the sales floor to prioritize high-demand items and manage the receiving schedule.
Ensure proper temperature control for perishable goods.
Inventory Management:
Coordinate stock movement from reserve steel to the sales floor.
Conduct regular cycle counts to ensure inventory accuracy.
Reconcile discrepancies and monitor inventory levels for potential stockouts or overstocks.
Work with store leadership to optimize inventory levels.
Damaged Merchandise Processing:
Assess and process damaged merchandise according to company policy.
Maintain records of all damaged items, including cause and resolution.
Dispose of unsalvageable items in compliance with environmental and FSQA regulations.
Return to Vendor (RTV) Management:
Coordinate the return of merchandise to vendors.
Prepare documentation and arrange shipping for RTV items.
Maintain accurate records of all RTV processes.
Inventory Reporting:
Assist with inventory reports and provide accurate data for analysis.
Participate in scheduled full inventory counts and suggest improvements for reporting efficiency.
Vendor Coordination:
Manage relationships with DSD vendors and coordinate delivery schedules.
Address and resolve vendor-related issues to ensure smooth operations.
Safety and Security:
Enforce safety protocols, including proper equipment use and lifting techniques.
Ensure emergency exits are clear and report any security concerns.
Maintain a clean and organized backroom environment.
Communication:
Liaise between sales floor staff and store leadership to ensure efficient merchandise flow.
Provide regular updates to management on backroom operations.
Skills and Qualifications:
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Experience with inventory management and receiving operations.
Ability to collaborate with multiple departments and external vendors.
Knowledge of safety protocols and inventory control best practices.
Previous forklift experience
This position plays a key role in supporting the store's operational efficiency and customer satisfaction through effective backroom management.
