Food Service Coordinator

Red Rabbit is a Black-owned School Food Management Company that has worked with hundreds of schools, districts, and food banks to uplift communities of color throughout the North East and Mid-Atlantic Regions.
Since 2005, our professionally trained chefs have created menus, sourced farm fresh ingredients, and cooked delicious, thoughtful, and familiar food. Our food matters not only because it’s integral to good health, but because what we eat is an essential part of our cultural identity and sense of self.
About the role
We are looking for a highly detail-oriented, motivated and efficient Food Service Coordinator to join our in-school Team. Reporting to the school chef, Food Service Coordinator is responsible for estimating daily meal requirements, accurately recording consumption data, and ensuring compliance with dietary regulations, particularly for allergies, in collaboration with the Compliance Team. They play a crucial role in maintaining smooth service line operations, coordinating effectively with school staff and cafeteria workers to present meals attractively and manage meal distribution efficiently. They uphold food safety standards by following proper handling procedures, monitoring temperatures, and maintaining kitchen cleanliness to ensure a safe working and dining environment for students.

The ideal candidate has a background in data management and operations, loves building relationships, has impeccable communication skills, and is passionate about food justice in communities of color.
Primary Responsibilities
1. Information Processing: Responsible for estimating the number of meals needed at the start of the day and recording the actual consumption counts at the end of the day. Collaboration with The Compliance Team when necessary to enter partner data into the system and ensure that allergy counts are accurately reported.
2. Service Line and Partner Interaction: Food Service Coordinator plays a crucial role in ensuring that meals are presented well and the service line runs smoothly. They must have a deep understanding of meal times and student counts, ensuring compliance with counting protocols. Additionally, they will need to interact with partners, such as school staff or cafeteria workers, to coordinate meal distribution effectively.
3. Food Safety: Responsible for maintaining food safety standards during service and in the kitchen. This includes following proper food handling procedures, monitoring temperatures, and ensuring that all food is prepared and handled in a clean and safe manner. They will also assist in general kitchen cleanliness and organization to maintain a safe working environment.

Typical Hours: Monday - Friday apx- 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM
Location: Philadelphia, PA
Reports to: Head Chef
Compensation: $18.50 - $21.50
