Job Description

JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking dependable and team-oriented Kitchen Helpers to support daily kitchen and dining operations in a remote camp on the North Slope of Alaska. This role assists cooks and food service staff with food preparation, sanitation, dishwashing, and dining area upkeep. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, adaptable, and comfortable working long hours in a fast-paced kitchen environment.

  • Work Location: Remote Camp, North Slope, Alaska
  • Rotational Schedule: 3 weeks on/3 weeks off or 2 weeks on/2 weeks off; varies by job site
  • Work shifts: 12 hours/day (40 hrs straight time + 44 hrs OT per work week).
  • Travel: Flights between Anchorage and the job site are arranged and paid for by the company
  • Housing & Meals: Included (free)
  • Point of hire: Anchorage, AK

JOB DUTIES

  • Assist with basic food preparation (washing, chopping, portioning, and serving food)
  • Wash dishes, cookware, utensils, and kitchen equipment
  • Maintain cleanliness of kitchen, dining areas, and food storage spaces
  • Follow all food safety, sanitation, and hygiene standards
  • Assist with meal setup, service, and breakdown
  • Stock supplies and help with inventory as directed
  • Dispose of trash and recyclables according to camp procedures
  • Follow company safety policies and North Slope camp rules
  • Follow instructions and work well as part of a team
  • Support other kitchen or camp service duties as assigned

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Previous food service or kitchen experience
  • Alaska Food Worker Card or ability to obtain upon hire
  • Speak and understand English
  • Ability to work rotational schedules with extended time away from home
  • Ability to live in a camp or dormitory-style setting, including sharing a room if required
  • Reliable access to a smartphone capable of running apps for scheduling,
    timekeeping (clocking in/out), shift communications, and time-off requests
  • Must pass pre-employment screening (drug test, criminal background check, and a post-offer fitness for duty test).

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND EXPECTATIONS

  • Work is performed in a commercial kitchen within a remote camp
  • Ability to remain on your feet for long shifts and perform repetitive physical tasks, including lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Willingness to work day or night shift.
  • Must be comfortable living and working in a remote location with shared housing accommodations and communal facilities.
  • Teamwork, reliability, and a positive attitude are essential
  • Strict adherence to safety, hygiene, and conduct standards
