Description

Job Title: X-Ray Technologist

Department: Clinical

Weekly Hours: Full Time - 40 hours

Reports to: Site Coordinator

Location: All Brio locations, depending on schedule needs

Position Overview:

Provides patient care and obtains optimal images for diagnosis of patients. Assists providers and staff in coordinating patient care. Functions as the primary liaison between patients, staff, providers and radiologist. Also required to fill in, as needed, in clinical duties (number of clinical hours vs Radiologic Technologist hours will vary depending on need and approval of Site Coordinator).

Essential Functions:

  • Works both autonomously and collaboratively.
  • Communicates with clinical, clerical and billing departments, providers, patients and families to ensure continuity of care.
  • Communication skills (both written and verbal) suitable to express the physical, mental and emotional status of patients and families.
  • Accurately completes and maintains medical records and documents.
  • Provides general care to patients. Demonstrates acceptable time management techniques.
  • Maintains exam rooms and lab area. Prepares, stocks and cleans rooms as well as maintains supplies and equipment for treatment.
  • Maintains strictest confidentiality; adheres to all HIPAA guidelines/regulations.
  • Patient communication and preparation including removal of garments or jewelry that may interfere with procedure and explaining how the process works.
  • Setting the equipment to obtain the best density, detail, and contrast of the area being imaged.
  • Applying their knowledge of anatomy and physiology to the process to obtain the proper image.
  • Must be able to closely follow physician instructions, prepare radiography equipment, and obtain optimal images for diagnosis.
  • Ensures operation of radiology equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; and calling for repairs.
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Gains patient cooperation by reducing anxieties; providing explanations of treatment; answering questions.
  • Prepares patient for radiological procedure by positioning patient; adjusting immobilization devices; moving equipment into specified position; adjusting equipment controls to set exposure factors.
  • Minimizes radiation to patient and staff by practicing radiation protection techniques, using beam restrictive devices, and knowledge of exposure factors.
  • Maintains production and quality of radiographs by following established standards and procedures; observing radiographic results; making necessary adjustments.
  • Promotes excellent relationships between Brio, Radiologists and Specialist Offices. Works to improve processes in a way that is beneficial for both internal and external parties and builds Brio’s rapport in the medical community.
  • Takes ownership of ensuring the “Brio Way” is experienced by all patients, families, Specialist Network, and internal team members. Promotes an authentic, transparent work environment
  • Promotes excellent relationships between Brio, Radiologists and Specialist Offices. Works to improve processes in a way that is beneficial for both internal and external parties and builds Brio’s rapport in the medical community.
  • Takes ownership of ensuring the “Brio Way” is experienced by all patients, families, Specialist Network, and internal team members. Promotes an authentic, transparent work environment
  • Performs additional tasks as assigned by manager.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree in radiologic science
  • Prefer at least 1 year experience as a Radiologic Technologist
  • If no experience, requires 2 recommendations from faculty member and/or preceptor at a clinical site.
  • Adult medical office experience preferred
  • Knowledge of aging adult and physical changes
  • Possess knowledge of approved medical abbreviations
  • Ability to work with non-cooperative patients, patients with psychosocial problems and needs, or chronic and acute health problems.
  • Possess good customer service skills and exceptional telephone etiquette

Work environment and Physical Demands:

Requires sitting, standing, and walking associated with normal physician office environment. Person may be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, infectious diseases, blood/bodily fluids, and disease-bearing specimens. Ability to perform moderate physical activity. May require handling/lifting of children/objects (up to 50 pounds) or standing/sitting/walking for more than four (4) hours per day. Prolonged use of telephone may be required. Position will require travel between all Brio locations.
