Job Description

New England Life Care currently has an opening for a Certified Medical Assistant. This is a full-time, hourly, non-exempt position. The normal working hours will be Monday – Friday from 8:00am until 5:00pm. The training for this role will take place in Woburn, MA. After training is complete, occasional travel to the Concord, NH location may be necessary. Mileage reimbursement for travel expenses is authorized. 

Job Summary: We are seeking a certified medical/office assistant to support clinical and operations of our infusion suites. The ideal candidate will have excellent customer service skills, knowledge of ambulatory office operations and a commitment to delivering high-quality patient care.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Greet and assist patients as they arrive at the clinic, ensuring a welcoming and supportive environment
  • Schedule patient appointments and coordinate with healthcare providers to optimize clinic workflow
  • Assist healthcare professionals with patient assessments, examinations, and procedures as needed
  • Manage patient medical records, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in compliance with healthcare regulations
  • Prepare and maintain infusion equipment, supplies, and medications under the direction of healthcare providers
  • Assists in documenting vital signs and reporting any changes to the primary nurse on duty
  • Ensure patient confidentiality at all times
  • Communicate with internal pharmacies, internal insurance team, and other departments within NELC to coordinate patient care
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in the clinic to promote a safe and efficient work environment
  • Adhere to infection control standards as identified by site and regulating organizations
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to provide high-quality patient care and support continuous quality improvement initiatives
  • Processes workflow for requested scheduled, missed, rescheduled, reassigned, declined, and delivered visits.
  • Monitors Pending Referrals daily and assigns nurses for all appropriate SOC
  • Contact NELC patients at regularly scheduled intervals to review scheduled visits. Document and communicate accurate changes in demographics, insurance, physicians, and patient’s orders in EMR and to appropriate departments.
  • Accurately enters delivery tickets into EMR to ensure accurate & timely deliveries. 
  • Manage patient delivery timelines. Communicates unexpected changes in medication or supply usage to appropriate clinical and operations teams.  
  • Actively engages with internal partners to improve customer experience, contributing to a strong team approach.

Educational / Professional Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional training or certification as a medical assistant is required
  • Proven experience in a healthcare or medical office setting, preferably in an infusion clinic
  • Proficient with phlebotomy and other laboratory testing
  • Proficiency in basic medical terminology, electronic health records, and office software applications
  • Knowledge of infection control protocols, patient confidentiality laws, and regulatory compliance requirements in healthcare

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to interact with patients, caregivers, and healthcare professionals effectively
  • Attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced clinical environment
  • Excellent customer service skills required.
  • Excellent communications skills required.      
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team required.
  • Practical experience with microcomputer systems and applications to include Microsoft Word and Excel required.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify research and solve problems required.
