In this role, you'll help ensure reliable water service for our residents and businesses while supporting the maintenance and operation of the city's water and wastewater systems.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Meter Services: Read, install, replace, and maintain residential and commercial water meters; perform daily and monthly disconnects and reconnects.

  • Field Operations: Conduct investigations for leaks, pressure issues, or consumption concerns; inspect meters and service connections for damage or tampering.

  • System Support: Flush dead-end fire hydrants, collect water samples, and monitor chlorine and monochloramine levels to maintain water quality standards.

  • Customer Interaction: Provide courteous on-site service, answer questions, and coordinate access for inspections or repairs; assist with billing inquiries.

  • Equipment and Data Management: Use handheld or AMI systems to record and upload readings; maintain electronic records and report issues or hazards to your supervisor.

  • Emergency Readiness: Be available for after-hours or on-call duty to assist with urgent repairs or disaster response.

What You Need to Succeed

  • Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent.

  • Experience: One to two years of experience in meter reading, field service, or customer service preferred.

  • Licenses & Certifications:

    • Valid Texas Driver's License.

    • TCEQ Class C Water Operator License required.

  • Skills & Abilities:

    • Strong communication and customer service skills.

    • Ability to operate field equipment and mobile data devices.

    • Physically able to lift 50 pounds, walk on varied terrain, and work in outdoor environments.

    • Comfortable working independently and as part of a team.

Work Environment

This is a hands-on, outdoor position that involves exposure to all weather conditions. You may encounter noise, dust, chemicals, and other environmental elements typical of utility operations. Personal protective equipment will be provided.
